Summary/Abstract: Since Blaga is a comprehensive cultural philosopher, his work "The Origin of Metaphor and the Meaning of Culture", Vienna 2019, (i. O. Geneza metaforei si sensul culturii) also fits into the framework of linguistics, and here again especially into German studies, as the German language played a special role for him. Apart from the fact that he wrote a doctoral thesis in German at the University of Vienna, which he also presented and successfully defended, Blaga dealt a lot with German-language thinking and poetry. This article is an introduction to Blaga's thinking about metaphor and the meaning of culture. It is intended as a foreword to his above-mentioned book, which was recently published in German. The author of the essay, Rainer Schubert, is also the translator of this work by Blaga. The main concern of the article is to show that Blaga's metaphorology is compatible with the important metaphorology of Hans Blumenberg and the technology philosopher Günther Anders. Blaga's philosophy is not as isolated as some believe. Blaga's metaphorology is more topical than ever and is essential as a counterbalance to hyperrational thinking.
