Summary/Abstract: Gdan´ sk, as one of the most important cities in the history of Poland, constantly supplies a lot of research possibilities to people interested in its history. Issues connected with the establishing and functioning of the Spanish consular mission in this Polish port in the second half of the 18th century may be an example. The question, little known in Polish literature, became the subject of a doctoral thesis written at the History and Culture of the Spanish Language Countries at the Catholic University of Lublin. Albeit it had been partly worked out by Spanish historians, it still gives a lot of research possibilities, as Spanish record offices are a perfect basis for broadening the knowledge about the relations between Gdan´ sk and Spain, and hence about the broadly understood Polish-Spanish relations.
