Summary/Abstract: This article aims to implement the figure of the continuum for gender and space as well as for the concept of metaphor. In the first stage, the figure of the continuum will be discussed to capture the plurality of existing, lived and experienced forms of gender by using the four dimensions: physical dimension (body), psychological dimension (feelings), social dimension (behavior), and sexual dimension (desire). In the second stage, concepts of space will be discussed and set in the context of the continuum. With the following stage, the cognitive linguistic approach by Lakoff and Johnson will be shortly presented and discussed by applying the analyses of Rudolf Schmitt. The metaphor of the “Frauenzimmer” (“wench“) will be illustrated by a literary example to finally end up with an attempt of the application of the figure of the continuum for the metaphor.
