Media in a small town ased on the example of a local-government newsletter and a parish service

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to consider selected aspects of social communication by means of digital media available to the public in a small town. The study includes The Lutomiersk News: Local Government Information Bulletin [Pol. “Wiadomości Lutomierskie. Informacyjny Biuletyn Samorządowy”], which is available on the website of the Lutomiersk Administrative District: 2017–2020, as well as the Internet portal of the Roman Catholic parish in Lutomiersk (Deanery of Konstantynów Łódzki). Using the method of qualitative analysis, contents of the media were detrmined as well as their characteristics and functions were investigated. It was shown that the overall contents of The Lutomiersk News reflect the functioning of the local government unit and of the people living there. On a bimonthly basis, the residents get a package of information on various aspects of life in the region. The parish-related medium, in turn, contains topics connected with the parishioners’ life, the Christian way of life, and community of Lutomiersk.
