Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the way of signing Polish queens and how it has changed over the years, starting with the first registered signature belonging to Zofia Holszańska, wife of Władysław Jagiełło, and ending with Maria Josepha of Austria, wife of August III. The number of surviving autographs is a function of the size of the queen’s handwritten legacy. This, in turn, primarily results from the length of the „reign” of a given ruler on the Polish throne. Women who were Polish queens for a short time left very few autographs or no autographs could be found at all. On the basis of the collected material, it was possible to draw the first conclusions about the topic.
