Summary/Abstract: Despite the fact that 30 years have passed since Tajikistan gained its independence in 1991, the government of communist President Imamali Rahmon, which led to a civil war that lasted for five years, continues to implement anti-Islamic politics to pressure Muslims who try to live their faith, to prevent and ban them from receiving religious education and closing religious educational institutions. Since 2009, there has been a gradual tightening in the field of religion and religious education; headscarves is banned in state and educational institutions, all madrasahs have been closed, students studying abroad have been recalled, and only the Islamic Institute remains as the official religious education institution in the country. In this context, the general aim of the study is to reveal the state of religion-state relations and the field of religious education in Tajikistan in the post-independence period. In the article, the legislation regulating religion-state relations in Tajikistan is evaluated, institutions that carry out religious services are discussed, and the current situation of Muslims is mentioned in general with an emphasis on the state's policy against Islam. Subsequently, the situation in the field of religious education in the country is mentioned and information is given about the practices and issues of formal and non-formal religious education.
