Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the importance of program compliance between the Greens and the FDP in forming a coalition after the Bundestag election 2021. The author argue that it is possible to create a sustainable coalition between ideologically opposed parties. The main argument is that despite the trend of mitigating ideological differences and the dominance of the climate change topic during the election campaign, the basis for the formation of the “Citrus” coalition was not political pragmatism, a utilitarian intention to exercise power, but a consensus of political actors based on the idea of constitutional patriotism. In the first part, the author provides a theoretical overview of the concept of constitutional patriotism. In the second part, he opposes constitutional patriotism with elements of post-democracy and ideological rapprochement of different political options.
