Summary/Abstract: The paper starts from a personal experience and reveals the hardships that an author has to face if he wants to publish a book in Romania. First of all, there’s a lack of money, then there’s a lack of interest for any book which can’t be perceived as a sure and quick success. Publishing houses have to deal with so many financial problems that it can be very hard to convince them to support a project, no matter how interesting or innovative it may be. The bookshops and the libraries, at their turn, hardly show any sign of interest and they are also very hard to contact.
