Summary/Abstract: Investigating the lives and destinies of the women mentioned by Wallachian late medieval and early modern sources is a rather new field of inquiry in the Romanian historical scholarship, although several case-studies have been published throughout the last years. The present article aims to out line, as far as the sources disclosed it, the biography of a noblewoman from the Oltenia region. She lived in the 18th century and her name was Catrina Goran, a former wife of Lord Chamberlain Radu Goran. The articles is based on several documents found in different Romanian archives and, particularly, on two, still unpublished, testaments dictated by the above-mentioned noblewoman. The first testament dates from July 1767, while the second is from October 1779.Both documents reveal numerous details not only with regard to Catrina’s life and family, but also to her last dispositions. Catrina wanted her wealth shared between several ecclesiastical foundations – the Wallachian Metropolitan See, the Râmnic bishopric and the Dintrunlemn monastery – and her birth relatives. The appendix of the articles includes an edition of both testaments, along with a few other documents.
