Summary/Abstract: The development of technology and the more useful intermodal transportation has led to the change and development of container ports. While bulk cargoes are transported in solid and liquid form in traditional freight transportation, the desire to meet the increasing industrial needs with the development of world trade in every field has increased the importance of door-to-door transportation. With this purpose, the development of transportation in this field was achieved by the put of the developed loads in a metal box. Container transportation has started with the development of special ships and ports for the transportation of these metal boxes. Container transportation, which has been increasing continuously since it has been used in the world and in our country, has pioneered the formation of unique ports. The recent increase in the number and capacity of the ports built for container purposes has caused the competition among the ports around the world to begin. Ports created for container handling have faced the necessity to scale up, increase service levels and develop their technologies for more effective operational capability in order to get a greater share of this global trade. Increasing container terminals in the global trade market are increasing in parallel in our country. Kocaeli, which is an industrial city with its infrastructure and proximity to production centers, offers a wide range in terms of port and container ports. In this context, the aim of the study is to contribute to the literature by examining container transportation and the structural features of container ports and the effects of digital transformation on container ports in the case of Kocaeli ports. For this purpose, studies obtained through literature review and statistics about six ports handling containers in the Kocaeli port region and port web pages were examined and evaluated in detail. In these evaluations, In these evaluations, DP World's Yarımca port, which leads the way in digital transformation and has port investments in 55 countries, stands out.
