Summary/Abstract: This paper is concerned with the manner in which the postmodernist writer, A.R. Deleanu, reinterprets the myth of the deluge in his novel Îmblânzitorul apelor. The study is based on several of works about imaginary and intertextuality because these theoretical approaches complement each other and together they can explain how the novelist is able to give new meaning to some well known symbols. For methodological reasons, this essay is divided in two section preceded by a short presentation of the author. The first one tries to sketch the theoretical reference used in the second one which consists of the text analysis. The Bible has always exerted a significant impact on literature. It is very interesting to observe how an exponent of a society that aims for desecration transposes the biblical imaginary in a relatively new literary genre. The fantastic literature itself has certain requirements and Deleanu manages to meet them all. The apocalyptical scenario that he builds represents a very interesting reading and a fascinating domain of research as well.
