Summary/Abstract: This issue’s DIARY, another of the periodical’s regular columns, is by the young Sarajevo writer Nenad Veličković, whose novel Konačari has already been translated into a number of European languages. In his characteristic style, mocking both himself and the world, he talks about the nonsensical way literature is taught in the Faculty of the Humanities in Sarajevo, where he himself lectures. He also refers to his own endeavours to circumvent the curriculum and lecture to his students in a way that will make literature attractive to them, not rebarbative. Like everything from the pen of this unusual Sarajevo writer, this diary is a somewhat astringent picture of our post-war circumstances.
