Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse the provisions of the labour law concerning the issue of unpaid employee leaves. The unpaid leave is a break in the obligation to perform work. During the unpaid leave, the employment relationship does not terminate, however, it is suspended and the employee is not entitled to remuneration. The article will briefly discuss the principles of granting and using unpaid leave. Reading it will allow you to find answers to many questions, e.g. whether the employer may refuse to grant the leave, or it may be shortened or extended.
