Summary/Abstract: The following article questions the meaning that it makes today to educate in another language, especially, English learning. It analyses the criteria that guide this educational initiative from a sociocultural and ecological perspective of language, and critically exposes the implications of a bilingual curriculum in an unequal, diverse and non-English-speaking country such as Mexico. The findings include some alternatives to promote English learning in primary school.
