Factors Hampering intra-family Succession in the Company as a Barrier to the Development of Family Businesses

Summary/Abstract: In almost all countries family owned companies are the backbone of the economy. Most of them struggle to survive beyond a single generation. Worldwide, only one out of three family businesses makes the transition successfully from the one generation to the next. The aim of this paper is to show how family owned businesses should be prepared to the transition to the next generation and what barriers they will face.
