Summary/Abstract: In this paper I tried to answer the questions regarding the origin and meaning of the Toponym Borșa (Maramureș county). In oder to achieve this goal, firstly I have gathered most of the opinions and thoughts expressed by historins and linguists regarding Borșa; secondly, I have organized this points of view for a better perspective on the issue. I also briefly analyzed the most important opinions and thoughts, finally showing which of them seems the most plausible at this stage of the research.
