Summary/Abstract: The special legal protection granted to Roma people through positive discrimination often contributes to the birth of the normative inflationary phenomenon. This is not due to the increase in the number of normative acts adopted, adding to those by which differentiated treatment is introduced, but to the adverse reaction from those outside the protected group. In most cases, measures to ensure equal opportunities between Roma and other ethnic groups actually produce the opposite effect than expected, leading to an amplified reaction of hostility from those outside the protected group, reactions that they also lead to an increase in the process of ethnic segregation and discrimination. Therefore, it is imperative to analyze the direction in which the measures aimed at ensuring equal opportunities are directed and whether such a direction is still compatible with the evolution of social realities.
