The Fairy Tale Therapy as a Method of Reducing the Fears of Pre-school Children in the Opinions of Parents and Teachers – Research Results

Summary/Abstract: The article is of the theoretical and research nature and its purpose is to present the results of research carried out to enrich the knowledge of parents and teachers and their opinions on anxiety relief of preschool children using a fairy tale therapy. The research was conducted in the Jan Amos Comenius Educational Kindergarten of the Evangelical Reformed Parish in Zelów, Poland. Detailed research problems concern the most common types of anxiety occurring in preschool children, the most common causes and effects of anxiety in preschool children, the ways of coping with anxiety known by the respondents and the place of fairy tale therapy in relieving children’s fears in preschool age. The conclusions from the conducted research allow to state that parents and teachers willingly use fairy tale therapy as a method of support in stressful situations for the child and appreciate this form of therapy.
