Summary/Abstract: More than 20 thousand Cubans came to work in Czechoslovakia in 1978–1989. The official media never mentioned them, aware that hiring foreign workers was not very popular. Cohabitation with the locals led to frictions but also to some remarkable interactions, for instance, the integration of some Cubans into the Roma community.
