Summary/Abstract: After World War Two, companies in Western Europe had difficulties becoming accustomed to the arrival of “temporary” labour from Southern Europe, overseas territories and former colonies, as well as other underdeveloped countries. In the 1950s, the resentment which Arabs or Turks face today was often experienced by Italians, too.
