Summary/Abstract: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases. The medical and social significance of the disease is determined not only by the widespread prevalence of the disease, but also by the fact that it mainly affects young people. It has no geographical, social, racial boundaries and affects both sexes and all ages, but is more common in male children. In children, epileptic seizures as well as therapy with anti-epileptic drugs affect the development of the structures of the central nervous system, the formation of higher mental processes that ensure the adaptation of the child's body to environmental conditions. In children, frequent attacks have a more damaging effect due to the incomplete development of the brain. The effects of chronic attacks affect the development, structure and function of the brain. The purpose of the study is to investigate the frequency of seizures and disorders in cognitive and neuro-psychiatric development in children with epilepsy. The materials and methods used in the study are a sociological, documentary and graphical analysis of the results obtained. The study included 167 parents of children with epilepsy. Results and Discussion: In the families of children with epilepsy studied, it was found that frequent attacks characteristic of the disease disrupt the normal mental and mental development of children at an early age. Most of the children have a delayed mental and motor development, which manifests until the first year in both sexes. Conclusion: Epilepsy is a disease characterized by seizures that, depending on their frequency and duration, can lead to severe consequences for the cognitive development, motor skills and attention of children. There is a need for timely and adequatetreatment to address the seizures that would reduce the disorders that they cause.
