THE KOSOVO-RESAVA DIALECTS IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA. THEIR STATUS WITHIN THE DIALECTAL FORMATION. AN OVERVIEW OF THEIR CHARACTERISTICS AND LEVEL OF EXPLORATION

Summary/Abstract: This study presents the exceptional position of the Kosovo-Resava dialects in Kosovo and Metohija within their dialectal formation, and offers a concise overview of all existing information on them – on the basis of published texts, studies and monographs – with a presentation of their elementary characteristics. On that basis, we compiled a list of underexplored units and under-researched linguistic questions, proposing possible directions and several guidelines for the future dialectological research of this dialectal idiom in Kosovo and Metohija.
