Summary/Abstract: This article aims to trace the history of the establishment of the Russian populations in Armenia during the imperial and Soviet periods and to analyze the causes of their exodus after the fall of the USSR. I will argue that the loss of their dominant position in Armenia and the language policies put in place contributed to drastically reduce the influence of the Russian language. And lastly, I will assess the current state of the Russian diaspora in Armenia thirty years after the demise of the Soviet Empire.
