Summary/Abstract: The present article describes the demographic issue, especially in the case of Romania, based on the statistical-demographic method of the great scholar, Vladimir Trebici. In this sense, we will outline the evolution of demographic phenomena such as birth rate, mortality, nuptiality, divorce, infantile mortality during the period 1970–2017. For gaining a description closer to the social reality, we started from Trebici`s contribution to studying the demographic problem that is significant due to his extensive studies in this field. Morever, we propose a comparison between the period in which the abortion was legal and the period of its prohibition. Thus, in order to highlight the catastrophic effects of abortion on demography, we also compared the human losses from the Second World War with those generated through abortion, and concluded abortion practices generated a "war with ourselves". To illustrate the demographic decline, the article brought together another two alarming phenomena: the birthrate decreasing year by year, and the emigration that seems to have an upward trend.
