Summary/Abstract: Cronica versificată de pe Rin is an important part of the folk manuscript from the end of the 18th century, that contains Christmas carols, apocryphal legends, the book of the county, the synods from Nechia and Florenţa and the first Romanian folk collection. Some of the lyrics were written and some of them were only copied by Ioan Şincai, Gheorghe Şincai’ s brother. Cronica… is dated „Rain, 28 mai 1794” and describes the battles from Rhine during summer 1793 and 1794, between the French army and the European coalition. It describes corectly those events and to prove it, the poem was compared to two works that speak about the battles. We may even say that is some kind of war chronicle; but its importance also consists in its literary forms and in the fact that it was written in those very days of the battle. Today, we may admire it at Mureş County Museum.
