Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to parallels between various redactions of the service to St. Prince Vladimir, the Baptizer of Russia and texts belonging to St. Cyril and Methodius, especially the canon to St. martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki, written by St. Methodius and the canon for the translation of relics of St. Clement of Rome, composed by St. Cyril. The author proves that though Old Russian authors tried to keep distance from the tradition of St. Cyril and Methodius in the question of the Baptism of Russia, in order to prove their spiritual and ecclesiastic independance, in reality they borrowed muchn from it both on the level of general ideas and on that of concrete Biblical images.
