Summary/Abstract: We have to admit that public library has to be close connected to its readers needs; in order to respond in an appropriate manner to their requests, it needs to open some communication channels to all social groups that might be interested in library services. Because of financial resources, that are quite limited, librairies have to replace „traditional” means - such as folders, calendars etc. - by something more „professional”: the social statute of library, as an institution, and implicitly, of its representants, as the image of the highest intelectual level. Another way of attracting readers is to offer them new, untraditional, services, such as the organizing of CIC (Center of Comunity Information), CIT (Centre of Touristic Information), connection to Internet etc.
