Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the current and socially attractive topic of the development of sustainable tourism in the coming years. The period after the "clinical death" of tourism, which was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is taken as a turning point for the greater application of this kind of tourism. The author will evaluate the applicability of sustainable tourism both from the point of view of customers, specifically their attitudes and preferences to this type of tourism. The customers' attitudes towards sustainable tourism will be ascertained based on a questionnaire survey. The view and attitude of the destinations themselves. For these purposes, the author specifically chose those destinations that in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic faced excessive attendance of foreign tourists such as Barcelona, Mallorca, and Venice, which had a negative impact on the image of the destination, but also on the population living in the destination. In this case, the author will base the survey on the analysis of secondary sources, specifically on interviews with representatives of these destinations in professional publications focused on tourism.
