Summary/Abstract: Our paper aims at tracing the attempts of introducing Romanian dialectal language into the patrimony in the interwar period, starting with the premise that language is an essential component of a nation’s patrimony and the way in which a “lieu de memoire” of a language is created symptomatically displays the political aspect of the linguistic research. The access of the dialectal language into the patrimony was done, on the one hand, by means of linguistic and folk monographs conceived in the school of linguistics in Bucharest and, on the other hand, by means of linguistic geography followed in The Romanian Language Museum in Cluj. Both these attempts have contributed to fulfilling our nation’s destiny in the new historical conditions.
