Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with expressive vocabulary as a liguistic-stylistic dominant in Jezdimir Dangić's novel Our Imprisonment. The main focus is placed on lexemes which disappeared from the active lexical layer between Dangić's time and today, or their usage became territorially limited, which makes this paper an addition to the study of the history of Serbian expressive vocabulary. In the paper, we also particu- larly highlight the stylistic effects of expressive vocabulary in literary and artistic works, especially the way expressives are used as a medium of literary characters' characterisation.
