Summary/Abstract: This article takes into consideration a specific period in the history of music in Albania: the one that runs from the mid 1940s until the 1960s. The focus is on the process of musical institutionalization during the dictatorial regime. I am not referring just to a history of musical instititions but to that complex and thorough process of institutionalization that took place during that period. The research method combines the institutional memory traced from archival data sources and the discourse about music. It is an ethnomusicological approach in the study of the history of albanian music.
