Summary/Abstract: The paper makes an overview of the e-Government concept and of the types of functional services of this kind, followed by an accurate examination of a set of commeasurable indicators of the use of e-government services by businesses and citizens of Romania in the past four years. The evolution of the indicators mentioned above is compared to similar indicators, registered in the European Union. In order to highlight one of the factors providing access to e-Government services limited by businesses, this paper sums up the steps that need to be taken for the transmission of tax returns to government financial authorities, for their centralization and subsequently for the submission to the National Tax Administration Agency.
