Summary/Abstract: In 2018 ICSID proposed stand-alone mediation rules applicable to state-investor disputes, taking into consideration the UNCITRAL Working Group III on Investor-State Dispute Settlement Reform and Singapore Convention on Mediation. Investor-State dispute resolution through mediation represents a voluntary and consensual process in which parties, the state and the investor decide to be committed to the facilitated negotiation process in order to get an agreement. ICSID is the only international organization that offers investment-specific mediation rules.
