Summary/Abstract: The economic and financial crisis is imposing a better coordination for economic, financial and monetary policies at global level. In this context, the European public finance evolution has brought into discussion reconsidering fiscal and budgetary policies in order to sustain the regional economical growth on one side (Lisbon objective) and recover from the actual crisis without major loses, on the other side. Restraints imposed through the Maastricht treaty and the Stability and Growth Pact are demanding a budgetary policy analysis trough the public debt sustainability as an element of high macro-economic efficiency in the context of a certain indebt degree. The study is following an analysis of the public debt, indebt degree and the European Union countries deficits in order to observe if the limitations imposed through the Stability and Growth Pact are followed, underlining the negative and positive effects arising from here.
