Summary/Abstract: The article focuses, from the perspective of phenomenology of reading, on Bertolt Brecht’s brief remark regarding the transformation of addressed to non-addressed writing. In the first part, I present Brecht’s text against the background of discussions about chirographic culture. In the second part, I provide a phenomenological outline of the structure and architecture of the literary work. In the conclusion, I questions Brecht’s remark against the background of the results of the previous phenomenological inquiry.
