Summary/Abstract: This study affirms the architectural disciplinary and discursive potential through culturological approach of the city of Skopje after 1991. The lack of objective historical distance (1991-2011), imposes the responsibility to finally find the accurate viewpoint for reading the impacts and threads that reshape the city in real time while is being discussed. That position of “the eye” is both our professional аnd humanly ethic responsibility to try to understand what is truly happening to the city of Skopje after 1991. Skopje is experiencing the effects of the post-socialist transition in the last twenty years (1991-2011), being currently challenged by an imposed political agenda of national revivalism that is implemented through the architectural practice. This study refracts the single and commonly accepted viewpoint of Skopje as post-socialist city, opening new perspectives with the aspects of post-titoism and postcolonialism and critically imposing the doubts of Skopje`s „building boom” being able to face the challenge of constructing identities. It is finally time to understand that architecture is much beyond building, it is finally time to understand our city (and our world) through architecture, it is finally time to feel at home…
