Summary/Abstract: Nowadays extremists and extremist organisations use communications to influence and manipulate people; hence, the military organizations must try to come up with strategies to minimize their effectiveness and come up with their own strategies to win hearts and minds of vulnerable people who might otherwise be tempted to join them. It is regarded as an instrument of statecraft to facilitate the governments in order to influence the perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and behaviours of stakeholders, non-state groups, neutrals, in support of national security policies. In this premise, this paper discusses the concept of strategic communication in the military, in NATO and in the Romanian Army.
