Summary/Abstract: One of the four fundamental freedom of Community law is the free movement of persons and labor. Freedom of movement for persons are intended to create a single market for labor and achieve greater cohesion of the peoples that make up the European Union by removing barriers to migration and promoting a "European citizenship". This article aims to present aspects of policies on asylum and border controls within the European Union. Thus, we will discuss the most representative regulations on these notions, such as the Single European Act (SEA), the Maastricht Treaty, the Amsterdam Treaty, the Schengen Agreement, and not least the Lisbon Treaty. This treaty shall pay particular attention to the policy on asylum and border control.
