Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the ecological dimensions of rural development. At the beginning we describe the complexity of rural development and its importance, and hen explain the connection between regional and rural development. In the context of he territorial dimensions of rural development policy, the emphasis is placed on the ecological dimension and its importance for rural areas. We conclude with emphasis-ng the necessity to take into account all the dimensions of regional rural develop-ment, in particular the ecological one, which influences the development of rural areas n a very specific way.
