Summary/Abstract: Given that in 2020, even in the context of the pandemic, the frozen Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia has intensified, this issue is a topical one. Our study tries to make a rigorous analysis of the relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan from different perspectives: historical, cultural, religious and economic, emphasizing in this aspect the effects of extending the European Union’s policy to the east, through what is called the Eastern Partnership. Although our analysis is schematic and does not require any in-depth immersion exercises, we are therefore able to cover in detail the various angles from which the European Union’s relations with certain Muslim countries can be observed and which cannot be treated in detail at the same time. There are currently many voluminous works that treat them with rigor, meticulousness and elegance. The most widespread bibliography on this topic rarely includes a transdisciplinary perspective of the EU’s relations with Eastern partners: economic and political treaties exclude the cultural and historical side of events and those on the history of religions avoid current political and economic nuances. The deepening of some particular topics makes us forget about the global perspective, which nevertheless helps us to better understand a current phenomenon in its magnitude and we conceptualize this multidisciplinary analysis only by interweaving the disciplines. This study was conceived in the transdisciplinary atmosphere of the Student College of Academic Performance, where, although we studied different fields, we, the authors, collaborated on a joint project, which, we hope, would fit into the new method of study of transdisciplinarity. The objectives of the study are to present the conflict context between the Azerbaijani state and Armenia, the presentation of European actions (with possible influences on the evolution of Azerbaijan in relation to the European Union), enlargement policy and EU-Azerbaijan relations, analysis of economic and legislative reforms implemented by the government because important reforms were carried out during that period. About methodology, we chose the case study. First of all, we presented the context, which has an influence on the development of the state. Subsequent- ly, the European actions, the enlargement policy of the EU, the way of negotiating the accessions in the European Union are studied. Azerbaijan oscillated between the European and Asian worlds.
