Summary/Abstract: On 17 December, the feast of Holy Prophet Daniel, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel remembered his patron saint in prayer. On this occasion, His Beatitude attended the Te Deum service celebrated by His Grace Varlaam Ploieșteanul, Patriarchal Vicar Bishop, at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest. In the sermon he delivered to conclude the service, His Grace Varlaam Ploieșteanul stressed the importance of following the example of one’s patron saint, mentioning the many gifts of Holy Prophet Daniel bestowed on His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. Following the service, in „Europa Christiana” Hall of the Patriarchal Palace, a festivity was moderated by His Grace Varlaam Ploieșteanul. During the event, congratulatory addresses were delivered by Ms Monica Anisie, Minister of Education and Research, and Mr Victor Opaschi, Secretary of State for Religious Affairs. In attendance were the coordinators of Patriarchate’s Administration Sectors and representatives of Bucharest Archdiocese, as well as Basilica Press Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate. During the second part of the event were handed out the Diplomas and medals of the Year dedicated to the Pastoral Care for Parents and Children within the Romanian Patriarchate, granted by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. The Head of our Church thanked for the congratulations received on his name day and emphasized the importance of fostering humility and hope. His Beatitude spoke about the ministry of the Church as loving response to God’s call. The Patriarch also stated that religious freedom is freedom to pursue eternal life.
