Her Excellency Ms Laurence Auer, ambassador of France to Bucharest, pays presentation visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

Summary/Abstract: On 16 November 2020, at the Patriarchal Residence, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received the presentation visit of Her Excellency Laurence Auer, ambassador of France to Bucharest. The Patriarch of Romania expressed his best wishes for Ms Laurence Auer, at the beginning of her diplomatic mission in our country, and his appreciation for the rich diplomatic, cultural and educational experience of Her Excellency. The ambassador thanked and mentioned that during the short time she had been on a diplomatic mission in Romania, she had remarked the important role of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Romanian society, and she appreciated the contribution of Orthodoxy in promoting spiritual values in the European Union. The ambassador expressed her willingness to cooperate with the Romanian Patriarchate in areas such as education, including theological education, in upholding human dignity, opposing human trafficking etc. Also, Her Excellency deems it very important that Romanian should attract European funds. In his turn, His Beatitude underscored that Romanians have a European vocation and that our country has one of the most numerous Orthodox diasporas among the member states of the European Union.
