Summary/Abstract: The imbalance of economic potential and international position remained continuous determinants of Poland’s policy towards the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Poland pursued its interests in foreign policy in 2017, mainly by an attempt to find its place and role in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The BRI grew to be China’s most important foreign policy instrument, including due to the organisation of the first forum of countries participating in BRI in Beijing in May. This was also connected with Poland’s efforts to implement the agreements concluded during President Xi Jinping’s visit (in June 2016), especially the declaration on raising relations to the rank of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
