Summary/Abstract: Quantum computer technology and quantum key distribution are two disruptive technologies in their first stages of research and development. Their impact on information security in general and cryptography in special is still to be evaluated depending on the speed of development, new breakthrough in algorithmic, protocols and quantum processing technology. From Cesar’s code to Enigma and Quantum Key Distribution humanity always tried to gather and share information in a secure way, without being decrypted or intercepted. In this incipient phase of quantum era it may seem this is the best solution so far, but as always history will tell.
