Summary/Abstract: This study is based on the comparison of the results of an ethnographic research on the process of socialist agricultural collectivization in Bulgaria and among the so-called Bulgarians and Gagauzes from Bessarabia in Southern Moldova and Southern Ukraine. I focus on the problems of peasant’s affection to land and property during the process of collectivization and their resistance to join the co-operative farms and kolkhozes. I problematize the traumatic experiencing of collectivization and analyze the emotions that were driving and affecting people. The analysis relies on the biographical approach and on the study of memory work.
