Summary/Abstract: In France, the terrorist attacks of 2015 strongly impacted on police work. On patrol, the French police officers construct action situations by means of cultures of collective interpretation: they “discern”. These cultures are changing day by day. After the attacks, they changed suddenly; the frames of interpretation, the self-images acting, the images of the public and especially the self-image acting in front of the public are transformed, in particular thanks to the activity of reinterpretation of the situation experienced by the police officers on that infamous day.
