Summary/Abstract: In 1894, Pierre Loti embarked on a journey to the Holy Land. On his return, he published a series of three volumes entitled The Desert, Jerusalem and The Galilee. Although presented as a travelogue, this trilogy is also the narration of a pilgrimage. The paper seeks to validate this hypothesis by analyzing the hybridity of the triptych' discourses, that of tourism and that of spiritual quest.
