Summary/Abstract: The current paper discusses the controversial nature of the semiotic status of tolerance, peace and living together. Considered, according to the political reading, as states of affairs, it turns out in the light of the discourse semiotics that they are rather states of mind. Under the circumstances, the semiotic path to be built for peace calls for a semiotics of passions. Such a reading recalls the place of passions in search of a meaning, and calls into question the inadequacy of action to build a world of peace where living is shared. In addition, the semiosphere makes it possible to delimit the anthropogenic areas required for social cohesion. It is a question of living in harmony with the others by sharing with them a sphere, in respect of what individualizes them. Since tension is omnipresent in social interactions, we propose the development of a discursive strategy to best manage them: social intelligence.
