Summary/Abstract: Established at the end of the XVIIth century, the Haţeg Roman-Catholic Parish held over time a collection of books whose dynamics can be traced with the help of the Canonical visitations protocols and the inventories that took place periodically. These complex documentary sources offer a detailed image of the Haţeg Romano-Catholic community, where from the books were not missing. According to the inventories made with the occasion of these visitations, the number of the books recorded in the Haţeg Parish was starting at 21, going to some 172 at the end of the XIXth century. The recording of the books was made often in a shorter manner, usually only a part of the title or just the book’s author being recorded, while the place and year of printing were ignored. Following the titles recorded in the inventory lists we can observe an entire collection composed of preaching books, books of theological morale, textbooks of grammar and logics by various European and Transylvanian authors. These authors frequently found in the Transylvanian Catholic collections give proof that European culture spread unto Transylvania.
