Men towards the #metoo Action on Polish Facebook. Analysis of Reactions to the Normative Crisis in Relations between Men and Women

Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the discourses at play in men’s reactions to #metoo (#jateż)action on Facebook in the context of the normative crisis generated by theexposure of prevalent sexual violence against women. The tackling of this issuedepends on changing and enforcing the existing law and normalising the lackof acceptance to a broad spectrum of sexual violence in the habitual behaviours ofa given community. This goal may be achieved by socialisation and resocialisationof men to the self-control of aggressive behaviours and raising men’s selfawareness of male privilege in interactions with women.
